Destination Photography – Sabah 2016
A photography assignment to shoot images of my old SHATEC schoolmate, Alexander Yee’s tourism and nature lodge projects in Sandakan (Sabah) finally came into fruition 3 years after the idea was first mooted. So while this album may appear like a “product shoot”, I realised what a gem it was and the vast potential of Alex’s tourism projects for us city folks.. The assignment was not so much to market his nature lodges services in Sandakan but to shoot some latest pictures to refresh his projects websites. Perception of Sabah being an unsafe and kidnap-prone area did not helped much with the recent news. But I lived to tell and hope to debunk the misconception and show the true side of Sabah – “Land Beneath the Wind”. An amazing hub for nature in Asia !
I like to call the 3 location, Kinabatangan, Sepilok and Libaran Island are the “holy trinity”
– Kinabatangan for amazing Borneo wildlife (think Orang Utan, Proboscis monkeys, elephants, hornbills, otters, etc..all in the wild) ,
– Sepilok for Rainforest discovery, Orang Utan and Sun Bear rehabiliation centers and
– Libaran Island for Turtles conservation… and that’s does not include many other wildlife along the way…
What can I say ? It’s Amazing… (^____^)
